DIDACTIC ACTIVITY

So far, during my didactic work, I have conducted classes in various subjects but mainly relating to issues connected to agricultural chemistry, soil science, geochemistry and environmental protection. Classes were conducted for intramural and extramural studies in the following fields: agronomy, animal husbandry, agritourist and environmental protection. Currently, I give classes and lectures for student at the Faculty of Agriculture, Horticulture and Bioengineering and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences. I also conduct courses as part of postgraduate studies at the Faculty of  Agriculture, Horticulture and Bioengineering. In addition, every year I give classes for foreign students in selected modules as part of the Erasmus + program and 2 courses for MSc students of English-language studies. I am the lecturer of seminars and monographic lectures at doctoral studies. I give lectures for foreign students as part of the Erasmus + academic exchange.

I expand my professional experience by participating in national and international internships as well as EU programs.

To date, I have promoted 2 doctors, 60 masters and 30 engineers. In the years 2016-2019, I was the tutor of 4 foreign graduate students who completed 3-month internships under the Erasmus + program. Since 2017, I have been a member of the Doctoral Studies Council. I collaborated the regulations and educational program of the Doctoral School at PULS.

I am the author of a handbook for students "Selected issues in soil science and agricultural chemistry" (2010, extended in 2013), as well as two thematic monographs "Sulfur in the environment" (2006) and "Municipal sewage sludge. Genesis - Economy ”(2012).

SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY

The scope of my scientific activity is related to the issues connected to agronomy, environmental protection and management of natural resources, which mainly concern:

- determining the agricultural usefulness of sewage sludge and composts prepared on them in the terms of their fertilizing value and possible pollution of the soil environment with xenobiotics

- municipal waste management with particular emphasis on the sustainable management of biodegradable waste

- diagnostics of soils and plants in the terms of their nutrient supply in changing environmental conditions subjected to anthropopressure

- heavy metal phytotoxicity and remediation methods of soils polluted by them

- degradation changes in agricultural soils caused by anthropogenic factors

I am the author or co-author of 141 original papers. The topics of my publications reflect the current scientific issues and constitute an interdisciplinary approach related to broadly understood agronomy and soil environment protection as well as proper management of biodegradable wastes.

As the main contractor or contractor, I participated in the implementation of 8 national and international projects. In addition I am a co-author of 3 expert opinions.

So far, I have reviewed about 60 papers at national and international level, published, among others, in such journals as: Compost Science and Utilization, Geoderma, Pedosphere, Chemosphere, Mires and Peat, Journal of Elementology, Polish Journal of Environmental Studies, Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports, Polish Journal of Agronomy, International Journal of Environmental Technology and Management, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Waste Biomass and Valorisation, Waste Management, Chemical Speciation and Bioavailability, Agronomy, Sustainability, Journal of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture , International Journal of Environment and Pollution.

I conduct research cooperation with centers such as Erciyes University (Turkey), Mendel University in Brno (Czech Republic), Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (Slovakia), Universidad de Almeria (Spain).
