On 25-26th March 2026, representatives of the team from the Poznań University of Life Sciences participated in the XXth anniversary conference in the series „Active Methods of Nature Conservation in Sustainable Forestry”, held at the Center for Nature and Forest Education in Rogów, Poland.
Professor Maciej Skorupski, PhD, DSc, professor Grzegorz Maciorowski, PhD, DSc and Jan Maciorowski, MA (speaker) presented a paper entitled „Beyond Borders. Active Conservation of the Greater Spotted Eagle in Europe”, presenting the results of the international team’s work so far as part of the LIFE Above Borders project.
The presentation had particular emphasis on sharing good practices which have already yielded tangible results in the form of increased nest protection and the number of young birds achieving independence. We also shared:
- the installation of artificial nesting platforms,
- protecting trees from marten infestation,
- establishing a chick-rearing center in Biebrza National Park,
- the results of monitoring and feeding birds on their wintering grounds.
