Greater Spotted Eagles on the move – an educational field game from a team in Turkey

Thanks to the work of our Turkish colleagues, a unique 4×4-meter floor game, „Migrator: The Eagle’s Adventure”, has been created, designed specifically for hands-on activities with children. On this large-format board, students take on the role of Greater Spotted Eagles and accompany them on an extraordinary journey – from Poland to Turkey, from Estonia to Bulgaria – learning along the way about the challenges that await these noble „aerial travelers” during their thousands of kilometers of migration.

In the game, each child becomes a Greater Spotted Eagle: discovering the main migration routes, confronting the threats facing birds in a landscape transformed by human activity, receiving „help” along the way and gathering knowledge about the species’ biology and habitat requirements. Movement, fun and group collaboration are combined with learning about biodiversity and the importance of nature conservation – each step on the board represents another stage in the eagle’s journey and a further opportunity to discuss what helps and what threatens birds of prey.

Special thanks go to the game’s creators: Güngör Genç is responsible for the graphic design and ornithologist Ömral Ünsal Özkoç is responsible for the content. It is thanks to their creativity and commitment that „Migrator: The Eagle’s Adventure” enriches the educational program and meetings with young nature lovers, supporting awareness-raising about the plight of greater spotted eagles throughout their range.
