Greater Spotted Eagle in Iraq

The Greater Spotted Eagle frequently migrates to Iraq. It is found near the reservoirs and wetlands of the Ahwar region. The number of birds wintering or passing through the area is estimated at between 100 and 450 individuals. The main threats stem from poaching, electrocution by power lines and human disturbance.
