On 22nd-24th April 2026, project representatives participated in the second edition of the Platform Meeting of Nature and Climate LIFE Projects in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE InterLIFE), organized by Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC), Kampinos WetLIFE project and the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, actively participating in communication sessions, workshops, industry meetings and panel discussions.
This provided an excellent forum for exchanging experiences with representatives of LIFE projects from eight European countries and organizations such as CINEA (European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency), ELMEN entity and DG Environment. We had the opportunity to present our efforts to protect the Greater Spotted Eagle and learn about the practical effects of other LIFE projects in Central and Eastern Europe.
Collaboration between LIFE projects is crucial for effective nature and climate protection in Europe. Sharing good practices, joint problem-solving and networking between project teams allow for learning from each other’s experiences, avoiding mistakes and increasing the effectiveness of conservation measures.
At the meeting, the presentation of the LIFE Pilica project (LIFE19 IPE/PL/000005) which implements comprehensive measures to improve water quality in the Pilica River basin, was particularly inspiring. This project is an excellent example of an interdisciplinary approach to water resource management. Sharing experiences with the LIFE Pilica team was particularly valuable in the context of conservation efforts for the Greater Spotted Eagle whose habitats are closely linked to aquatic ecosystems. River management solutions, such as restoring the natural functions of river ecosystems and increasing water retention, can also be crucial for protecting the Greater Spotted Eagle’s habitats in the Biebrza Valley.
