Welcome to MatTriad 2023

International Conference on Matrix Analysis and its Applications, MatTriad 2023, will be held on 10 - 16 September 2023 in Będlewo, Poland. This is the follow-up of the MatTriad series held in Będlewo, Poland (2005, 2007, 2009, 2017), in Tomar, Portugal (2011, 2021), in Coimbra, Portugal (2015) in Herceg-Novi, Montenegro (2013), and in Liblice, Czech Republic (2019).

MatTriad 2023 will be the 10th conference in the series, which has been held every two years since 2005. The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers interested in various aspects of matrix analysis and its applications in many fields of mathematics and science, and to offer them the opportunity to discuss current developments in these fields. We especially encourage the participation of scientists and PhD students interested in the latest achievements in the theory of matrices and operators, spectral problems, matrices and graphs, combinatorial matrix theory, as well as applications of linear algebra in statistics and statistical modelling. Matrix theory is heavily used in various fields of mathematics, in return, various disciplines of mathematics can be very useful in proving properties of matrices, especially those where the conventional methods of matrix theory fails. Another relation can be found in between linear algebra and graph theory. Yet another relationship applies to people who are interested in polynomials (e.g. of many variables) that only take positive values. This involves a number of matrix problems both ways. There has been a lot of progress lately, both theoretical and practical (particularly the links to semidefinite programming), with many discussion between matrix people and others.

The formula of the meeting will include plenary sessions, contributed sessions and a poster session. This edition of the conference will have also two special sessions devoted to the use of matrix algebra in statistics: the Linear Models and the Wishart Matrices.
